The Government of India has launched a new central sector scheme, “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)” to increase the income of small and marginal farmers (SMF). The scheme was launched in February 2019. It is being implemented by the Department of Agriculture of the Governments of all the States and Union Territories through the Department of Agriculture, Co-operation and Farmer Welfare (DAC & FW) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare. Under the scheme, direct payment of Rs. 6000 per annum will be transferred in three equal installments. 2000 in the bank accounts of eligible landholder families every four months.
